  • October 4, 2025:

    Our team returned to the Tuckahoe Public Library for Brain Stress for Kids: make Your Own Stress Ball! (Ages 7 -12)! In this session, older children learned how stress impacts important brain regions like the amygdala and hippocampus. We wrapped up with a fun, hands-on stress-ball–making activity, giving each child their own colorful mindfulness tool to take home! 🎈

    September 13, 2025:

    In Stress and the Brain for Kids: Make Your Own Calming Glitter Jar (Ages 4 - 12) at the Tuckahoe Public Library, our team explored stress and mindfulness strategies to help children identify difficult emotions and learn how to calm their minds. Participants created glitter jars sparkling with color— a hands-on tool they can use whenever they need a moment of calm. 🧘🏻‍♀️

    August 1, 2025:

    At our Brain Health in Action: Build-Your-Own Brain Hats & BINGO workshop at the Bronxville Public Library, kids learned about the power of sleep, nutrition, exercise, and other key habits that keep the brain strong. While these topics aren’t always emphasized in school, they’re foundational for lifelong brain health!🍎

    July 2, 2025:

    We hosted our program, Crafting the Nervous System: Pipe Cleaner Neurons, Coloring & More at the Mount Vernon Public Library. From brain-themed word searches and math code-breaking puzzles to hands-on model-building with colorful pipe cleaners, participants explored neuron structure, neural communication, and fun brain facts. 🖍

    March 22, 2025:

    At the Eastchester Public Library, we hosted our Waiting For Lumpy by Leslie Kimmelman: A Read-Aloud and Craft Program! The children had a wonderful time enjoying the storytime, learning about brain health, and making their own compassion bracelets to share kindness in their lives. We thank Author Leslie Kimmelman for her time and support! 📘

    March 10, 2025:

    We hosted our Neuro Art & Puzzle Experience at the Bronxville Public Library in celebration of Brain Awareness Week 2025. We engaged young minds in the wonders of neuroscience through hands-on activities— coloring, puzzles, and pipe cleaner neurons! 🎨

    March 10 - March 16, 2025:

    We kicked off our 2025 Brain Awareness Week campaign with a book display at the Bronxville Public Library. From illustrated brain books that dove deep into our senses to fascinating stories about Phineas Gage, we had something for every curious mind! 📚

    January 18, 2025:

    We hosted our Protecting Our Brains: Read-Aloud & Arts Event at the Eastchester Library! Through a storytime about skulls and “brain helmet” design activity, children learned about the importance of protecting their brain! ⛑

    January 11, 2025:

    We hosted our Brain Fun: Storytelling & Playdoh Event at the Eastchester Library! Children aged 4-8 learned about the brains’ amazing parts and crafted play-doh brains 🧠

  • November 8, 2025:

    At the Tuckahoe Public Library, we hosted our program Let’s Talk Dementia: Myths, Facts, & Everyday Prevention to honor National Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month. Through slides on dementia causes, prevalence, warning signs, prevention, and more, BWC aimed to strengthen our community’s understanding of this important topic. We brought learning to life with interactive activities like Truth or Myth and shared visual take-home resources to keep the conversation alive. 💜

    November 1, 2025:

    Our team was thrilled host an AAPI Teen Mental Health Panel at SPEAK’s Flourish in Fall Wellness Fair. Moderated by Executive Director Sonja Xie, our panelists opened up with incredibly honest, thoughtful insights about teen mental health. Together, we dove into powerful conversations about academic pressure, cultural identity, and therapy stigma—taking meaningful steps toward breaking stigma and uplifting our communities. 🍁

    May 23, 2025:

    In celebration of Non-Sibi Day at Scarsdale High School, BWC led Giving with Purpose: Aromatherapy Pouches for Alzheimer’s Patients, a hands-on program engaging 50 students across 3 sessions. We welcomed guest speakers from the Alzheimer’s Association to share insights on the illness and its impact on communities, followed by a meaningful craft activity creating aromatherapy pouches for a local caregiver support group. 🏫

    Feb 22, 2025:

    We had an incredible time at SPEAK’s Inaugural Winter Wellness Fair at the Mercy University Rotunda! BWC hosted an interactive talk featuring puzzles to improve mental health and neural flexibility, as well as a vendor table hosting mindfulness arts & crafts activities! 💙

  • November 8, 2025

    At NAMI Westchester’s Fall 5K Run ,our team had the wonderful opportunity to join the effort in mental health awareness. Sharing BWC resources on “10 Common Signs of Depression” and “10 Common Signs of an Anxiety Disorder” at our table, we helped equip attendees with practical knowledge to identify symptoms early and seek support for themselves or loved ones. 🏃🏻‍♀️

    August 29, 2025

    From clouds to rainbows, our team had the opportunity to partner with The Arc Westchester and create alongside a wonderful community of individuals with developmental disabilities. Together, we celebrated self-expression, connection, and the magic of imagination! 🌈

    July 15, 2025:

    Our team had the pleasure of joining young campers at Lifting Up Westchester’s Summer Camp for a special morning filled with art, joy, and creativity! Together, we crafted kindness bracelets and brain-themed positivity paper crowns, helping to spread moments of brightness and encouragement to underserved communities in Westchester, NY. 👑

    June 25, 2025:

    Created with care by Scarsdale High School students, the BWC Team donated 25 handmade lavender sachets and 15 handwritten cards to an Alzheimer’s Association caregiver support group at Calvary Baptist Church in White Plains, NY, offering comfort and heartfelt appreciation for the incredible work they do. 💜

    June 25, 2025:

    The BWC Team returned to the Kaplen JCC on the Palisades for Keeping Minds Active: An Afternoon of Memory & Language Exercises Designed to Promote Cognitive Engagement & Social Interaction in Seniors Living With Dementia. From playful activities to heartfelt conversations, the session reminded us that raising dementia awareness means fostering connection, not just education, and creating spaces where every individual feels seen and valued. 🤝

    April 15, 2025:

    At Kaplen JCC on the Palisades, the BWC Team led Spreading Joy Through Art: Paper Flower Painting With Seniors Living With Dementia. Through laughter, creativity, and connection, we were reminded how even the simplest moments can beautifully bridge generations. 🌸

    April 13, 2025:

    Created by 20+ students worldwide after 50+ hours of research & production, BWC’s Neuroscience in Focus: 2025 Winter Wave Anthology transforms complex topics—from Bell’s Palsy to sleep science—into powerful, accessible visuals that celebrate the impact of youth-driven science communication. 🌎

    March 13, 2025:

    In honor of Brain Awareness Week 2025, the BWC team donated 200+ origami crafts and handmade brain-cards for neurology patients at the White Plains Hospital! We hope our brain-health gift bags— with fun stickers and creative crafts— brought patients an extra touch of care and joy. View our volunteer recognition letter here. 💝

  • May 17, 2025:

    We were honored to be the only youth group to table at NAMIWalks Westchester, the largest mental health awareness event in our region. Beyond sharing health resources and handing out stickers, we connected with our community to celebrate months of advocacy and fundraising, raising $1,500 in support of vital mental health resources and helping create a space where every voice is heard. 🌿

    April 26, 2025:

    At our NAMIWalks Bake Sale, we sold blue heart cookies—symbolizing hope and support for mental health—alongside a variety of homemade treats. Every purchase contributed to our fundraising efforts for vital mental health resources, helping us advocate for greater awareness, access, and compassion within our community. 💚

    January 18, 2025:

    We hosted our Hot Cocoa Fundraiser in partnership with Learning Express Scarsdale. We raised $150+ to fund programs empowering youth brain health education!☕️

    November 6, 2024:

    Launched our GoFundMe for the Alzheimer’s Assocationin support for Alzheimer’s Awareness Month 💜
